Aliphatic Polyesters and Cellulose-Based Polymers for Controlled Release ApplicationsSchering Research 50 N.W. 176th Street Miami, FL 33169
College of Pharmacy University of Georgia Athens, GA 30602 The general technologies for fabricating drug delivery systems are briefly discussed in the present review. Furthermore, two types of commonly used polymers, biodegradable aliphatic polyesters for parenteral administration and cellulose-based polymers for oral uses, are presented by means of selected examples of their properties and applications to control drug release.
Key Words: Polyester polylactide polycaprolactone polyglycolide cellulose derivatives ethyl cellulose cellulose acetate phthalate methyl cellulose controlled release.
